As temperatures rise, members are asked to complete the GVTA Heat Report each day that classroom conditions are too hot and are not conducive to effective teaching and learning.
If you are experiencing medical symptoms as a result of the temperature, seek first aid and report to your admin immediately. After medical symptoms have subsided and you are able, please complete the GVTA Heat Report.
Steps To Take When Classroom is Too Hot:
Fill out the GVTA Heat Report
Check the email you provided in the report and forward the Heat Report responses to your Admin and your GVTA JOHS Rep
Record any actions your admin took to mitigate the heat.
Repeat this process for every day and every room where the space is not conducive to effecting teaching due to high temperatures.
JOHS Committees should focus their efforts on adhering to the Work Safe BC Language. Below are the applicable Regulations, Guidelines and Reports. They don’t take long to read and we would strongly recommend looking at the last link for Indoor Air Quality as the temperature threshold is 26°C.
Timely reporting and Investigations matter. If your Admin and/or the JOHS Committee receive a report from a member about excessive heat, it must be investigated.
